Summary

The Victorian Bangladeshi Community Foundation (VBCF) is a Werribee-based non-profit that runs the Western Region Bangla School, the Victorian Bangladeshi Sports Club and cultural events for the Bangladeshi community across Victoria.

For its October 2026 community event, VBCF asked Westend Digital to run a Facebook and Instagram campaign that would send people to the event page and generate ticket bookings.

Across the 1 to 18 October reporting period, Meta attributed 22 bookings to the campaign from $299.19 in ad spend. At a $50 ticket price, that represented $1,100 in tracked ticket sales and a 3.7x tracked return on ad spend.

The event itself reached 150 confirmed registrations, with the venue at capacity and around 30 more people waiting for confirmation. VBCF attributed much of the wider demand to its existing community networks and word of mouth. We therefore report the Meta-tracked bookings separately from the overall event turnout.

The brief

VBCF already had an active community around its school, sports club, families, volunteers and cultural events. Paid advertising did not need to replace those networks. Its job was to support them.

The campaign needed to keep the event visible across Facebook and Instagram, give people a direct route to the booking page and make it easy to buy a ticket without having to call or message someone first.

Tickets were $50 each and the media budget was modest, so the campaign also needed a simple structure that made it easy to see what was working.

Our approach

Optimise for the action that mattered

We set the campaign up under Meta's Sales objective, with VBCF's event landing page as the conversion destination and the Purchase event as the optimisation goal.

We chose not to optimise for traffic or engagement because cheaper clicks were not the objective. The campaign was built around completed bookings.

Keep the campaign simple

For a small budget, complexity can make the data harder to read. We kept the campaign focused on one event, one ticket price, one core audience and one conversion action.

Run video and static creative side by side

The campaign used two creative formats: a video and a poster-style static image. Running both in the same campaign gave us a practical comparison of how each format performed under the same campaign conditions.

What $299.19 produced

Across the campaign, Meta attributed $1,100 in ticket sales to $299.19 in media spend. That works out to $3.68 in tracked ticket revenue for every dollar spent.

The average cost per tracked booking was $13.60, a little over a quarter of the $50 ticket price.

The 3.7x figure should be read as tracked ticket revenue, not profit. It also reflects Meta's attribution, not a claim that every tracked booking happened only because of advertising.

It does not include offline or direct bookings that Meta could not connect to the ads. For this case study, we use the tracked figure because it is the part we can measure directly.

Video was the clear creative winner

The strongest result inside the campaign came from the video. It generated 18 of the 22 tracked bookings from 63% of the spend.

Its link click-through rate was 4.59% compared with 2.79% for the static ad, and visitors attributed to the video completed bookings at a higher rate after reaching the landing page: 4.0% compared with 2.6%.

The result also showed up in acquisition cost. The video's cost per tracked booking was $10.44 compared with $27.81 for the static creative, about 62% lower.

This is strong directional evidence, not a controlled A/B test. Meta did not split delivery evenly and the static creative produced only four bookings. We would use the result to guide the next VBCF campaign, not as a universal claim that video always outperforms static.

What Meta could measure, and what it could not

Meta recorded 22 bookings through the event page. VBCF reported 150 confirmed registrations overall.

Many people in the community also confirm attendance through friends, family, WhatsApp groups and direct contact. Those paths do not necessarily appear inside Meta Ads Manager.

The campaign reached 4,027 people and generated 18,307 impressions, an average frequency of about 4.5. It is possible that some people saw an ad and later booked through another route, but we cannot quantify that reliably.

For that reason, we have not attributed the full event turnout to Meta. The direct advertising result is the 22 tracked bookings. The wider event result belongs to the combination of community demand, word of mouth and promotion around the event.

What this campaign shows

A small paid social budget can still be commercially useful when the objective is clear, the buying action is trackable and the campaign is simple enough to learn from.

For VBCF, $299.19 in Meta spend generated 22 directly tracked bookings and $1,100 in attributed ticket sales. The same campaign also gave us a clear creative direction for future events: lead with video, keep the booking path direct and continue separating what the advertising can prove from what the wider community contributes.

How We Build and Manage Your Paid Advertising

Every business has different objectives. We match the right campaign type — or combination of types — to your specific goals and budget.

Step 1

Pixel Audit and Tracking Setup

  • Audit existing Meta Pixel or install fresh.

  • Verify standard events, set up Conversions API for server-side tracking, connect to GA4 for cross-channel attribution.

  • No campaign launches without verified event data.

Step 2

Audience Research and Persona Mapping

  • Analyse existing customer data, website analytics, and Meta audience insights.

  • Build three-tier audience map:

    • cold (interest/demographic/lookalike),

    • warm (website visitors, video viewers, page engagers),

    • hot (customer list, recent enquirers).

Step 3

Creative Strategy and Asset Production

  • Develop creative brief for each campaign based on target audience and objective.

  • In-house production available via Westend Photography where scoped.

Step 4

Campaign Architecture Build

  • Full campaign structure in Meta Ads Manager.

  • 2 to 3 ad sets per campaign testing different audience hypotheses.

  • 2 to 3 creative variants per ad set.

  • Clean structure enabling testing without audience overlap.

Step 5

Ad Copywriting and CTA Optimisation

  • All ad copy written per audience segment:

    • cold copy educates and intrigues.

    • warm copy reminds and reassures.

    • hot copy creates urgency.

  • Specific CTAs, not generic Learn More.

Step 6

Launch and Learning Phase Management

  • Monitor spend, CPM, CTR, and early conversion signals daily.

  • Avoid significant changes during learning phase.

  • Budget managed carefully for efficient algorithm learning.

Step 7

Weekly Optimisation and Creative Testing

  • Budget reallocation from underperforming to overperforming ad sets.

  • New creative variants introduced regularly.

  • Every change logged with reason and expected outcome

Step 8

Monthly Reporting and Strategy Review

  • Report covers: spend, leads or purchases, cost per result, ROAS, creative performance, audience performance, and 30-day forward plan.
